Field of Work: Traditional Patteh Embroidery of Kerman, Iran
First Exhibition: Creative World 2025
About Patteh Embroidery
Patteh embroidery, a centuries-old art form from the Kerman region of Iran, embodies a rich cultural heritage that has flourished over thousands of years. This exquisite craft has captivated embroidery enthusiasts with its intricate designs and vibrant colors. The materials used in Patteh are reminiscent of those utilized by ancient artisans, featuring locally sourced sheep wool and natural plants for dyeing.
The creative process begins with spinning fine woolen threads, which are then dyed using plant-based colors. Artists draw inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding them, sketching mental designs and motifs that reflect their environment. Each pattern is meticulously filled with fine woolen stitches, creating dense and harmonious designs. This art form is still practiced among the women of the Kerman region, who diligently preserve traditional techniques while infusing their work with contemporary artistic innovations.
